Vertical Slats

Finally the design in my head has come to a reality.  I’ve been dreaming of a new way to add a fence to our front entry while keeping my modern minimal approach.  The vertical lines appealed to me, as our house was done with a horizontal look.  I wanted to give it some more texture, and add a little visual interest.  So, with that came an idea of using the cedar 2×4 in the opposite way.  Instead of going the wide way across, we installed the slats the thin way, leaving only about an inch in between.  The effect gives light filtering through, and has an architectural quality to it.  It is private, but not solid, just giving it a beautiful modern look.  The wood shed received the same love the fence got.  Just because it’s a wood shed, doesn’t mean it can’t be amazing as well.  If something takes up visual space in your back yard, why not make it inspiring and intriguing looking?
