Make A Life Saving Choice

Make A Life Saving Choice

My thoughts for this blog are about making changes when you realize what is at stake. Right now many people who are fortunate enough to refresh their furnishings and change up some features in their home have an opportunity to help animals.

Before I became a vegan I wasn’t aware of all the ways that animals were affected by the purchases I was making. I never thought to look. From the clothes that were made with wool, to the shoes and furniture made from leather. I wasn’t making the connection, as I was brought up to believe that wool was from animals that needed to get a haircut, and leather was from the animals that were killed for food. Obviously after becoming more aware of the tragic lives that these animals endured and are continuing to endure, I made a conscious decision to no longer buy or consume any animal products. So basically my blog here today is to get my readers that are in the market for buying new pillows for the fall coming up, or blankets for that autumn chill in the air, to first look at what its made of. If it’s made from down, feathers, fur, or wool, look for something synthetic instead! The birds are not having a good time giving up their down or feathers, and the sheep are not getting a nice haircut. It is rather horrific. And when deciding to buy any leather furnishing to update your home, please know that the leather industry is not just a by-product of the food industry. It is a whole other industry.  The animals have a horrible life, and death just so you can have that fancy new couch or chair. It is very easy to avoid buying any things made from animals, you just have to ask questions, look at tags, and sometimes do your research before a purchase. For those of you with furry companions in your home, look at them, would you want them to have the same horrible life as the other animals? Even if you don’t have furry companions, I’m sure you do not want to be a part of an industry that does not see animals as the sentient beings they are.

Home accessories like baskets, pillows, rugs, blankets are just some of the things you can look for with synthetic materials. No animals life is worth that ‘thing’ you just have to have. The carpet featured here in this blog is from a company called FLOR, which is made with up to 40% pre consumer recycled content, ( non animal )and the backing is recyclable. You can mix and match from a plethora of colors and patterns.
