Dark Den.

Dark Den.

I like to keep things minimal and sleek. Like who wants to see an electrical outlet, or a white vent in a not white room?  To me, it really irritates my brain if it all doesn’t flow.  I want the space I’m in to be something I like to be in, and feel comfortable in.  How can I be comfortable looking at electrical outlets ? So for this Tv and Media room, I painted it all a dark charcoal, and made sure every outlet was black and nothing stuck out with color except the books, so even those baseboards got painted out.  This was quite a task, all the paint swatches to me had tones of purple, blue or green to them.  I just wanted a nice dark charcoal grey, almost black.  If you are  going to have an all dark room, you need varies of tone, and textures.  So instead of black walls, I went with the dark charcoal just to show a bit of tone difference so it would not be a snore.  And because I’m me, I made my own, with just enough for touchups.  So for the ceiling, yes its dark, but the room is a dark cozy space for cinema watching!  How can I watch a dark scandi noir show if I have a bright white ceiling?  That was my thought behind the black ceiling.  Everything just flows, and is exactly what I envisioned for my dark tv room .  No outlets saying “Boo”, and no white ceiling casting brightness when when watching crime scenes in Scandinavia.
